Monday, July 25, 2022 – Today we ate breakfast in the hostel’s dining room and went to Starbucks. After, we headed to the Field museum and got a tour from Dorothy Mason (Liz Erickson’s sister) on the evolution exhibit she did graphic design work for. Next we watched a 3D movie on Titanosaurs (it was a little boring), but after we got to wander around the exhibits more before heading to lunch. We tried to get pizza again, but it was over an hour wait to be seated so we had Jimmy Johns that we ate in the park. Claudia got hit by a pigeon. Then we went to Shedd aquarium and saw sharks. We watched a short 4D movie about different species of sharks. We learned about Epaulette sharks, which is a species of shark that lives in really shallow waters. When the tide goes out, it will stay on land and shut down its vital organs so it can survive out of water. Then it uses its fins to waddle back into the water when it is done feeding. We learned that Epaulette sharks can go without oxygen for 60 times longer than humans can. After the aquarium we waited around while Julene and Betsy bought our Metro passes. We took our first trip on the L and went to the H-Mart (A Korean grocery store) and got mochi, mangos, kimchi, and candy. After we took the L back to hostel, and had some free time and then got together as a group and talked about how the day went and did our devotions. Today’s devotion was on Bravery and Fear. Now time for bed.

Until tomorrow, Lucy and Enna
