Tuesday, July 26th

Our morning started off with venturing to a local coffee shop, filled with delicious drinks, tasty breakfast, and cute puppy petting. Following coffee time, we headed to the Lutheran School of Theology- Chicago (LSTC). We met with the admissions director, named Moose. He showed us a small portion of the campus and the dean of students, Scott also talked to us about what/how seminary can be, different from what we usually think of when we hear the word “seminary.” We played a game called “four on a couch,” which was pretty fun. We went outside to help Eric and their wife Elle with the campus pollinating garden, watering + planting. Following this, we walked to 57th Street Beach, and went swimming. After spending relaxed time at the beach, we went over to the Museum of Science and Industry, which had exhibits about avalanches, fetuses (Julene’s favorite, woohoo!), submarines, trains, farming, genetics, a mirror maze, and so much more! To finish off this packed day, we had to wait a tremendous amount of time to get on the bus, to go over to Pizza Capri. The deep dish pizza and pesto gnocchi were fantastic, filling our bellies to the max. To top off Pizza Capri, the water filler guy was awesome, so on point! He always made sure we had our glasses filled, keeping us hydrated (could’ve missed the bus back to the hostel if we made a trip to the bathroom beforehand, it was much needed but we held it in)! The bus actually ended up kicking us off before we had intended to get off, as we were approaching the last stop (we thought we were on a different route). This caused us to have to walk for a little bit, but we made it back eventually! We all fell asleep promptly after we got back. Thanks for waiting for an update, little late!

Thank you SO SO much to everyone who made this trip possible for us, we are so blessed to be here in Chicago.

Talk soon,

Haven R + Sofie S 🙂
