(The Forum this Sunday, Nov. 13, during which we will provide an overview on recent developments in the life of Prince of Peace. Please join me and Pastor Peter for this important update.)

Prince of Peace is facing big challenges.  We have lost the opportunity to host a day care provider and must plan for the loss of that income.  We also have big opportunities.  Our membership is once again beginning to expand. We have an unexpected opportunity to respond to a need for shelter with a tiny home project.  We are re-thinking and revitalizing our children, youth, and family programming. We are moving toward designation as a Reconciling in Christ congregation to declare our welcome to all, irrespective of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, ethnic origin, or economic status.  We are engaged in reshaping our vision through conversations with you and others in the Roseville community.

I am excited by the possibilities that are opening to us.  I also know that to respond to our challenges and make the most of our opportunities we need to make the best use of all of your talents and deepen our discernment of what God calls us to be.

As I write this message, forty-five days remain until Christmas.  The stores are already hawking Christmas presents. Thanksgiving is only two weeks away, followed by Black Friday,  Christmas decorating, planning for parties and events, including our own programs.  We are heading into a very busy time, joyous but exhausting.  This is not a good time to ask more of you, but I must.

Many of you, maybe most, are already stretched almost to the limit. I get that.  All I’m asking of you is to try to tune in to what’s  happening at Prince of Peace by reading the posts on the website, the regular emails and by including the life of our congregation in your prayers.

If you are able to give more of your time and attention, however, we need you.  We need another person to be on our nominating committee.  We need to fill several positions on our congregation council, including vice-president and treasurer.  We need volunteers to serve in worship and to organize our hospitality.  But most of all we need you to find a way to serve that fits your individual gifts.

Let us all embrace hope.
