Is Debt Forgiveness Fair?

College debt is a massive burden that affects millions of people. According to the Federal Reserve, 43% of all adults that attended college had student loan debt, owing a combined $1.75 trillion. Last August, the President’s administration announced a planned program to offer student loan forgiveness of up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients and up to $10,000 for other types of borrowers.  Just this week, the US Supreme Court heard arguments for and against this program.  Central in these arguments is a question of “fairness.”  Since we’re wondering about fairness this week, come join in on a facilitated discussion as we contemplate how this economic program does and does not reflect the kingdom of heaven.
