In our worship services on March 26th, we heard the Parable of the Talents from the 25th chapter of Matthew’s gospel. Prince of Peace decided to take the parable literally! Our church council entrusted the congregation with $5,000 which was distributed in varying amounts to everyone who came through our doors that day.

We were given five weeks to multiply the talents we received. The funds generated would then be invested in six organizations,* all doing the work of God’s kingdom in the world – here in the Twin Cities and as far away as Tanzania. Prince of Peace members responded faithfully to the challenge! The initial $5,000 has grown to $11,509 to date, and more is still trickling in. Once again, we are reminded that our God is a generous God, indeed!

Over the course of the coming weeks, each Friday’s email will feature a brief story of how one person multiplied the talents he or she was given. We begin today with Tammy Jackson. Tammy decided to bake a variety of cookies (including gluten-free) for her work employees, asking for a free will donation. As a result, Tammy more than tripled her initial investment of $20.00, designating all of the money to Settled because of her passion to help the homeless.
