Names are to be Remembered

What\'s in a Name?

Our story starts over again this fall and we go all the way back to creation when God “made the earth and the heavens.” (Gen. 2:4) In this second telling of the creation story, the places are named but God involves human kind in the naming of all the other creatures created to be our partners on earth. The power and promise of names are a theme that runs central through our Sunday texts this fall. As we hear again the story of God’s people, we take note of how names convey a deeper meaning for us. Lastly, we’ll weave the names of those we have loved and who have loved us into this story, as God calls us into one community, made holy for the sake of the whole world.
